# Leaving work for the next agent A fresh agent reads a house's model, its things and their versions without help. What it cannot read is what only you knew: the purpose, what you decided and why, what you ruled out, and the next step. Leave those in the house before you go. Every call below was run as written against a house of the sandbox (Atlantis build `447fc88`). ## Before you leave 1. **A dossier: purpose and state in words.** `create_document`, then `import_document` with Markdown: purpose, done, decided and why, ruled out and why, open, where the plan is. The answer names the version as `new_root_id`. Bind it to the corpus root that `overview` names under `corpus.root`: `adopt_digest` with the document as `doc_id` and the root as `subject_id`, then `anchor_dossier` with the root and `new_root_id`. 2. **The next step as a plan.** `create_plan_node` for the goal, then one node per step with `parent_id`. `add_plan_dependency` from one step to the next (by default: the second begins after the first is done). `set_plan_vocabulary` on the root gives the plan statuses in your words, for example "done" and "ruled out", each with the effect `begonnen abgeschlossen`. `record_plan_act` marks a step; it takes the status ID that `read_plan` lists, not the label (the default words `begonnen` and `abgeschlossen` work as words). Pass `author_id`, a speaker from `name_speaker`, where `overview` names no caller. `set_agenda` with `aktiv` puts the plan in the foreground. 3. **Reasons as notes.** `add_note` on the thing a decision concerns, with your speaker as author. On a ruled-out step, the note says why. 4. **Open questions as conjectures.** `raise_conjecture` on the thing in doubt, also when the dossier mentions it: the conjecture is what `overview` counts. 5. **Claims carried.** A note that names its source explains a claim; it does not carry it. `describe_evidence` stays Unevidenced until the claim is linked to its text with `Index` (`evidence-and-provenance`). 6. **Identities decided.** Two things of one name: `assert_separate` when you judged them different, a conjecture when you are not sure; joining them is in `evidence-and-provenance`. `create_document`, `create_person`, `create_individual` and `create_plan_node` create a new thing at every call; after an error or a timeout, look (`list_documents`, `find_things` with `where`, `read_plan`) before you create again. `record_plan_act` with `time` writes nothing when repeated. ## When you arrive At the reader door, which writes nothing: 1. `overview`. Under `corpus` it names `dossier_document` and `dossier_version`; `export_document` with both reads the dossier. Under `open_questions` it counts the conjectures. 2. `list_collection` with the collection of the aspect `Agenda` (its `instance_collection` in `overview`) names the plans in the foreground. 3. `describe_plan` on each. `front` is the answer to "what next": the steps that are ready. Every step has a state: `erreicht` (done or ruled out; its status says which), `laufend`, `bereit`, `blockiert`. 4. `list_conjectures` with status `Open`, then `list_work` for judgements the house itself needs. Then continue at the author door: `record_plan_act` on the step you begin, and when you stop, a new version of the dossier with `import_document` and `anchor_dossier` on its `new_root_id`. The anchor's history says which version counted when. Words from the house's seed are still German (`aktiv`, `begonnen`, `erreicht`); they are listed here as the house says them. ## Go deeper - [first-hour-in-a-house](first-hour-in-a-house.md): defining and storing - [evidence-and-provenance](evidence-and-provenance.md): notes, conjectures, carriers - [the-sandbox](the-sandbox.md): the test of a handover - [documents-and-versions](documents-and-versions.md)
